As the world's first company to announce the discontinuation of fuel vehicles, BYD's "leading" sales in the domestic new energy market has given it sufficient confidence. Since the beginning of this year, BYD has significantly accelerated its product layout in the new energy vehicle market and continued to expand the brand's existing advantages. Yuan PLUS is the first pure electric A-class SUV built on BYD's e platform.

I remember that Yuan PLUS became a small hit in the automotive industry with its innovative "gym" interior. I also test-drove this very personalized product. So, how will it perform?

Familiar dragon face, strong sense of sportiness

In terms of design, it is still the familiar "Dragon Face 3.0", but in order to highlight its identity as a new energy product, Yuan PLUS adopts a closed front face, and the wing-feather dragon crystal LED combination headlights are connected by a through-type chrome decoration, and the "Yuan" LOGO in the middle will also glow.

 

The perfect "body" proportions bring an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.29Cd, and the large sloping back, through-type waistline, and wind-wing sports wheels make the Yuan PLUS look very dynamic. The through-type taillights made of translucent materials echo the front face, making the Yuan PLUS more fashionable and more in line with the aesthetics of young consumers.

Entering the car, Yuan PLUS did not disappoint. Just looking at the unique color matching of the interior can fully mobilize people's enthusiasm and make people want to drive. The design elements such as the "dragon beard" center console with brushed metal texture, barbell-style air-conditioning outlet, and treadmill-style central armrest appear to have both class and sportiness.

The interactive experience is in place, and there is no lack of "treasure functions"

During the test drive, the 15.6-inch adaptive rotating floating Pad was quite impressive. In terms of hardware, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-core CPU, which is very "smooth" to operate. What's special is that it has a deeply customized operating system, which is very easy to use. Conventional car machines may only have a few simple functions, but on this Pad, you can almost have all the applications you want, such as watching short videos when sitting in the co-pilot.

The Pad can also be used to view and control most of the vehicle's functions. Of course, the voice interaction function is also available. For example, you can wake up the interactive system by saying "Hello, Xiaodi" and let it help you play music and open the sunroof. The Dirac Performance sound effect is combined with the 8-speaker system, which gives people a very good auditory experience as a whole.

Flexible space, better than expected

As an A-class pure electric SUV, the space performance of Yuan PLUS is quite surprising. A new energy product, because it has to be equipped with a "three-electric" system, will to some extent squeeze the space in the driving cabin, but this did not happen in Yuan PLUS.

In terms of parameters, its body size is 4455mm, 1875mm, 1615mm, and the wheelbase is 2720mm, which is in the upper-middle level of the same level products. In terms of the actual riding experience, the perforated seats are very comfortable and breathable, and the support is also in place. The back row uses a flat platform, even if there are 3 people sitting, the middle passenger is also comfortable. Its trunk space is also very flexible and can be used in partitions. If the luggage is large, the cover can be removed, and the rear seats can also be fully folded down.

Rechargeable and dischargeable, easy to use

Yuan PLUS also gave us a very good test drive experience. It is equipped with a 150kW AC permanent magnet synchronous motor with a torque of 310N·m. This power level is obviously more than enough for an A-class pure electric SUV. The official zero-to-hundred acceleration is 7.3s.

In terms of battery life, the comprehensive battery life of Yuan PLUS is 430km and 510km under CLTC comprehensive working conditions, and it supports 128kW ultra-fast charging, which can replenish 100 kilometers of battery life in just 10 minutes. Not only can it be charged, but it also supports 3.3kWh discharge. When driving by yourself, you can bring an electric rice cooker or electric frying pan to cook hot dishes, which is very practical.

7.3s to 100 km/h, excellent performance

As for the actual driving experience, Yuan PLUS does have some performance. Once you step on the "electric switch", Yuan PLUS performs without any delay and gives you quick feedback, but there is no particularly abrupt feeling of jumping forward, but a "fast and orderly" acceleration process. In addition, even if you need to overtake at high speed, the power is very sufficient and available at any time, especially when accelerating in SPORT mode, you can feel a clear sense of pushing back, which is very exciting.

With the support of the DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system, driving is a very easy thing, especially the ACC-S&G start-stop full-speed adaptive cruise system, ICC intelligent navigation system and other functions that "simplify the complex", making driving very easy.

The chassis is stable and comfortable, just like a luxury car.

As the saying goes, "a good horse deserves a good saddle." The engine needs to be matched with a high-quality chassis to unleash its outstanding capabilities. When most products of the same level are still using non-independent rear suspension, Yuan PLUS has already used multi-link independent rear suspension. During driving, this chassis has two main advantages: stable and comfortable. For example, when cornering, the body can maintain a very stable posture without obvious roll, and excess vibration during driving can be effectively filtered out. At the same time, Yuan PLUS is also equipped for the first time with a reduced frame tube beam subframe tailored for pure electric vehicles, which can effectively optimize the NVH performance of the vehicle. Coupled with the CST comfort parking brake function to curb the braking "nodding" phenomenon, the driving experience of Yuan PLUS can be summarized in one sentence: it has the flavor of a luxury car.
